At the center of the stress response is the autonomic nervous system, made up of two key branches:

Sympathetic Nervous System: Fight, Flight, or Freeze

This is your survival mode. It may look like:

  • Fight – pushing through, resisting

  • Flight – escaping, overworking

  • Freeze – shutting down, feeling stuck or numb

Freeze is often overlooked, but deeply felt.

Parasympathetic Nervous System: Rest, Receive, Reconnect
